Happy December, reader!
I'm sharing the idea of Gift Vouchers for my workshops with you - just in case you want to 'accidentally-on-purpose' share this with somebody who is stuck for a great Christmas present idea for you! (or you could just go crazy and treat yourself, LOL!)

Meanwhile, I'd like to take this opportunity of thanking you for your interest in my sketching workshops during the year - whether you're a previous student or simply started following me. It's been a great first year for my workshops, and I look forward to even better things in 2026. I hope you have a very happy & peaceful Christmas and look forward to engaging with you all in 2026. Shaun :-)

My Top Tip of the month
I guess this should really be my ultimate Top Tip!
Just like anything, the more you do it the better you become. (Practice makes perfect. Use it or lose it!) So, by sketching everyday - even for just 5 or 10 minutes - will like taking your sketching eyes to the gym!
Make it easy: I suggest treating yourself to an A6 pocket sketchbook, 2B pencil, rubber and a 0.1 UniPin fineliner - all intended to fit in a jacket pocket. Then, find yourself a regular time of day, when you know you can grab 5 minutes to yourself and sketch anything that happens to be in front of you. It could be a teapot, a plant, your phone, a person in the coffee shop - just sketch it and maybe even date it. It can be small, perhaps get several on one page during the week - or devote a whole page to just one subject. It's also fascinating to look back through these books and see your progress… The subject choice is yours - just sketch it!
Daily subject prompts: If you feel having a set of daily prompts would help discipline you, then head over to the Urban Sketchers website, where you will find suggestions for every day of the year! Don't forget, we like to sketch from life and not a reference picture…
