Join Dorset urban sketcher, Shaun Forward, for relaxed sketching sessions INDOORS this autumn and winter.
These cosy two-hour, coached sessions will take place in the comfort of the Kings Head Hotel in Wimborne, Dorset – with occasional outdoor sketching – as and when weather permits.

Why are we going indoors?
If you love sketching all year round – but don’t like get cold and wet – then Sketch Club is for you! I will be offering an indoor sketching club to practice drawing skills, explore materials, offer coaching where needed – in a warm, dry and safe place! Please read on and express an interest if this might be for you.
The venue:
Our venue will be a secluded and dedicated area within the historic Kings Head Hotel, in Wimborne Square, BH21 1JG.
The format:
• Two hour sessions, fortnightly on Tuesdays from 17th November to 23rd March, between 11:00am – 13:00pm
• £20 per person per session
• Basic materials such as pencils, pens, paper and some other materials will be available
• Guided sessions will follow a loose curriculum and also be directed by participant needs and desires
• The first hour: Enjoy a coached agenda on a specific sketching skill and trialling different media and techniques
• The second hour: SketchJAM freestyle all together on either still life subjects, or outdoors if suitable weather
• Tea, coffee, soft & alcoholic drinks and bar meals readily available to buy from the nearby bar, throughout
• Opportunity to stay on and socialise briefly afterwards and possibly do lunch or sketch more!
• All students will benefit from a 10% discount at Overbury’s Fine Art shop in Westbourne Arcade, perfect for pro advice on kit
• Free on-site car parking at hotel
• Several bus stops immediately adjacent to hotel
Booking:
The fortnightly sessions will be available to book via my website and you can book just one, or a block or all sessions – as you wish. ‘Book as you go’ is perfectly fine and I just hope to have a reasonable number present at each session.
Subject matter:
This will vary by session and be somewhat dynamically governed by the needs of attendees, but I am anticipating a curriculum along these lines: demonstration and practice of many key drawing techniques, discovering how to simplify subjects, grasping perspective, sketching still life objects at our table, the exploration of different media, life drawing of a clothed model (ie: one of us taking turns to model), discussing and examining the styles of popular sketchers and emulating them! Plus other topics which might be driven by yourselves, along the way…
